As an educator of design, Hodara promotes a three-fold way of looking at visual communication: design can explain, it can explore, and it can exhibit. (This concept is not original; it is passionately borrowed from a variety of sources). She believes that success comes from rigorous research, iteration, risky experimentation, and prototyping; and that elegant solutions reflect clarity and efficiency. For Hodara, the best part of teaching is meeting people with diverse interests, as she is a people-person.

Hodara has taught or teaches at the Massachusetts College of Art and Design, SMFA at Tufts University, Emmanuel College, University of Massachusetts Boston, and the University of Pennsylvania.
